Band Tour

I haven’t posted in a while because I have been on band tour. We left the Wednesday before Spring Break, returned about two hours ago, and go back to class tomorrow. During our tour we had concerts in 7 different states (Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Illinois) and we also drove through part of Delaware, which means that I have been in 7 more states than I had been in before Band Tour (I was in PA two years ago). We played in churches of many shapes and sizes. It is amazing how many differents set-ups we had our band in on this tour and my favorites were always when the brass instruments were elevated above the woodwinds (sorry to any woodwind players that read my blog).
Along with the concerts, we also had time to do some fun stuff on tour too (Actually it was all fun). We spent time at Virginia Beach, two historic battlefields, Fredricksburg and Gettysburg, we stopped in Hershey, and we were in Washington, D.C. for four hours. When we were in D.C. everyone split into different groups based on what they wanted to do. I was with three other people who wanted to see all the different memorials and monuments. They are all so well designed and moving.
I have a bunch of fun stories about band tour. Sometime maybe I will have the time to tell most of them to you.
Until then,
Dash

I was just thinking that you had just just seen the monuments but then I realized that your senior class went to Disney World.

Well, I saw Jefferson from across the river and the directions we were given to the Iwo Jima Memorial were not clear. Other than that we hit all the major ones.

It is a really looooong walk to the Jefferson memorial from the others! It takes FOREVER! We stopped at the JFK memorial on the way to take a break.
Of course, last time I was there, it was the hottest, most humid day of the year. Ugh. I am going again the beginning of May though and totally looking forward to it.

My personal favorite D.C. memorial is Iwo Jima. Too bad you missed that.

We were all disappointed at not seeing Iwo Jima, but we did get a lot of done in a short period of time. There are pictures on Facebook.
