Wisconsin Winter

Wisconsin Winter

So this is what it’s like,
A true winter season.
I’ve had eighteen years without any snow,
Now it seems as if I’ve had nothing but, for eight straight months.

Sunshine used to mean that it was warm outside,
Now it only means that it isn’t snowing.
Weather reports become your best friends,
Especially when they predict a warming trend.

Before I go much further,
This poem was not written so that I could murmur.
But rather to say,
That I want spring to come and stay.

Until that day comes,
I will not twiddle my thumbs.
For to do that would mean,
That I would want to scream.

As I conclude this poem,
I want it to be known,
That a California city kid
Has almost survived his first real winter.

lol Cute poem. So, I totally understand! I hated that the snow would be out, but it wouldn’t feel warm! I missed that the most. And so true that being able to see the sun only means it isn’t snowing. I don’t want to discourage you, but it doesn’t really turn into Spring until April at least. And even then it is still pretty chilly. It just feels so warm because of the previous weather. Hang in there!

I soooo understand. But you will make it; I guarantee. And now you will have stories to tell when you are an old man. If it is any consolation, this has been the worst winter (weather-wise) of my life, too.

awe… so grateful i don’t have to endure that.
this kind of reminds me of a song from seven brides for seven brothers
“in november the snow starts to fall…
… April showers will come so they say
but they don’t and its may
you’re about to forget the whole thing
when all at once one day its spring” :) hopefully you’ll experience spring soon
